Massage

Massage is an ancient art and science which offers a wide variety of very effective methods and specific techniques from both the East and the West to help restore balance and encourage the body’s innate healing capacity.

I am qualified as a McTimoney Chiropractor but have currently chosen to focus on massage and soft tissue work. I have also trained in South and South East Asian methods of bodywork particularly Thai Yoga Massage.

Through my work as a massage therapist I have had the opportunity of working in the UK and overseas with top athletes and performers including the Tokyo Ballet,a leading French dancer, and part of the Live Aid Team in Ethiopia.

1. Swedish remedial, therapeutic, and sports massage (on the table)

2. Aikitaiatsu (S.E.) Asian fusion massage (on the floor - futon)

Working on the table involves the use of oil or wax directly on the skin such that individuals are not fully clothed but are always covered appropriately to ensure relaxation, dignity, and security.
Working on the floor can offer a more dynamic approach to treatment as it provides the opportunity for more varied movement. When working on the floor the treatment is done fully clothed where the person is dressed in loose comfortable clothing.

All forms of such treatments are broad in their scope and effective in nature. Massage (and the combination of massage and movement) is one of the most effective ways to restore balance and promote healing. Whether you are a sportsperson recovering from injury or needing pre and post treatment, or an office worker wanting to relieve the stress of a day in the office, no matter what your occupation, pastime, age or condition the benefits of treatment remain the same.

Self-Massage

Learn the Art of Self-Massage

There is a long and rich tradition of Self-Massage techniques coming from a variety of cultures from India to South East Asia and beyond.

The beauty of Self-Massage is that it’s always accessible at any time and because your hand fits your body perfectly it’s probably the best treatment available.

There is a strong connection between the hand and the brain so it’s the ideal way to get to know your body intimately and the most accessible way to promote general health and healing and treat minor strains and sprains. It’s also an important preventative medicine in that via Self-Massage you can feel tensions before they set.

Self-Massage works on all the layers of the body from more external muscles tendons and ligaments and joints to the internal organs via the meridians and the encouragement of efficient energy flow.
